Services – Move from Third-Party Account

  Services

This article deals with moving your services from a third-party customer account (typically a website administrator) to yours. If you want to hand the service over to another customer, follow the instructions in the article Services – New Owner Handover.

This article describes common solutions for moving services from a third-party WEDOS account. If the described circumstances do not apply to you, request an individual solution.

In this article you will learn:

Service Moving Conditions

WEDOS will only act upon:
Authorized requests sent via the contact form by the customer in whose account the service is located or by an authorized user.
• Written requests from the domain owner with a notarized signature.
• The verdict of a court or other competent authority.

In order to transfer services from another account to your own account, you must first create your own account. If you already have an account, log in.

What if I want to move the entire account, including services, to a new admin?

In this case (for example, when changing IT administrators in the company), you can change the login name and password in the customer administration according to the instructions Administration - Change Login. Subsequently, you can also change other data according to Administration - Customer Account Settings.

Administrator Cooperation

If the original service administrator cooperates, ask him to hand the services over to you according to the instructions in the article Services – New Owner Handover.

Once you have these services in your account, carefully review:

For existing services, check and possibly change passwords (for security reasons) to FTP, databases, or content management systems (WordPress and others).

If the original administrator is not cooperating, follow the instructions below.

Move Domain from Third-Party Account

If the original administrator does not want to or cannot transfer the domain according to the article Services – New Owner Handover, you can move it under one of the following conditions:

If the domain is registered to both the email and the name (company) of the administrator, we cannot do anything on our part. Resolve the matter by filing a lawsuit against your administrator. We can only transfer the domain to your account when instructed to do so by a court order.

Move with Domain Owner’s Email

Follow the instructions Domains – Move Accounts with AUTH-ID. The AUTH-ID is sent to the domain owner’s email, as listed in the registry (which may differ from the email of the owner of the customer account in which the domain is located).

Move with Domain Owner’s Name or Company

If the domain owner information is yours except for email or phone, follow these steps:

  1. Create a new domain contact at the corresponding registry according to the instructions in the article Domains – Create a Contact.
  2. Request us to change the domain owner via the contact form according to the template:

I am requesting to change the owner of the domain (replace the parenthesis with the domain name) to the contact (replace the parenthesis with new contact’s identifier, e.g. WEDOS-ABC-12345). Then move the domain to the customer account ID (replace the parenthesis with your customer account ID, e.g. 123456) with login (replace the parenthesis with the email address you use to log into your account).

  1. If we require a printed domain owner change form, have the signature of the domain owner notarized and send it to the address:

WEDOS Internet, a.s.
Domains department
Masarykova 1230
37341 Hluboká nad Vltavou
Czech Republic

If the domain is registered to a legal entity, the request must be confirmed by its statutory body or a person who is authorized to act on behalf of the given entity. In that case, also attach to the notarized signature a document confirming the authorization of the person signed.

The usual processing time for an application is 5 working days.

Move Web from Third-Party Account

You can only move the Webhosting, WMS or WebSite service as such to your account with the cooperation of the current administrator according to the article Services – New Owner Handover.

If the administrator doesn’t cooperate, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have the corresponding domain in your customer account, or this account is its authorized user. If the domain is not registered with WEDOS, please contact us to check its status and suggest the next course of action.
  2. Use the contact form to ask support to remove the domain’s web hosting name. If the domain is not registered with us, prove that you are its owner.
  3. After support removes the current web hosting domain name, start a new web hosting.
  4. Migrate data from the original web hosting to the new one, either using automatic migration or manually.

To migrate data between web hosting services, you typically need FTP access to the original web hosting. If you do not have it, the site cannot be moved. For this reason, it is not possible to move websites created in the WebSite editor without the current administrator’s cooperation.

If you do not have access, resolve the matter by filing a lawsuit with your administrator. Based on a court order, we may move the services to another account.

Move Emails from Third-Party Account

You can only move the Webhosting, Mailhosting, WMS or WebSite service as such to your account with the cooperation of the current administrator according to the article Services – New Owner Handover.

If you have already created a new web hosting according to the previous chapter, migrate emails from the original hosting to the new one, either using automatic migration or manually.

  3. After support removes the current hosting domain name, start a new web hosting.
  4. Migrate data from the original web hosting to the new one, either using automatic migration or manually.

To migrate emails, you need access to the individual mailboxes on the original hosting. If you do not have this access, the emails cannot be moved.

Open the Automatic Email Migration Tool on:

If you do not have access, resolve the matter by filing a lawsuit with your administrator. Based on a court order, we may move the services to another account.

Move Billing from Third-Party Account

Services moved by any method leave all invoices issued before the move in the original customer account.

To issue new invoices after moving services, change the billing information according to the article Services – Change Billing Information.

Common issues

Common problems with transferring services from a third-party account include:

Original Service Inaccessible

Issue: We have access to FTP or email boxes of the original service, but cannot login.

Cause: FTP and email mailboxes are normally unavailable after the service expires. In rare cases, we may also block them from our side. However, login information can also be changed by an uncooperative administrator.

Solution: If the FTP or e-mail box is unavailable due to an error on our side or the service has expired no more than 5 days ago, we can handle the situation from our end. Contact us via the form, include the name of the service, the problematic FTP account (email box) and a screenshot of the error message.

If the owner of the account in which the service is located has changed the FTP (email) password or has completely blocked or deleted the account, unfortunately we cannot intervene without a court order.

Cannot Create a New Service

Issue: When trying to create a new service for a domain, there is an error message: This domain name cannot be used. The domain name is already used by another service.

Cause: The system does not typically allow creating new hosting services with the names or aliases of existing services.

Solution: Ask support to remove the service name and wait for a reply with confirmation.
