EU Domains – Hiding Owner Data

  Domains, EU Domains

Due to the entry into force of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), EURid has changed its access to the visible data of the domain owner in the public EU domain WHOIS. Therefore, it is no longer possible to hide and reveal data, but only the necessary ones are displayed as follows:

For a natural person (no company name is filled in), the following data can be seen:

  • email address
  • language

For a company (a company name is filled in), the following data can be seen:

  • the company
  • city
  • region
  • country
  • email address
  • language

If you have received an email from EURid asking you to validate your identity and contact details OR if you want to obtain a declaration that you hold a domain name, this can be done via the EURid User Extranet. Owners of .EU domains can log in to it and perform operations such as the aforementioned contact validation, but you can also have an authorization password sent to you for transfer to another provider, such as WEDOS.

  1. Open the EURid User Extranet page
  2. Enter the domain name and email of the domain owner. You will receive a link to access the EURid user interface in a moment.
  3. Search for (and click on) the access link in the email
  4. You are now logged in and can carry out the desired activity
