Notification Recipients
You can have test result notifications sent to different people through different channels. The number of recipients and the available channels depend on the WEDOS OnLine account version:
Free | Pro | |
---|---|---|
Available channels | E-mail, Mattermost, Rocket.Chat, Slack | + Pushover, Webhook |
Number of recipients | 3 | 50 |
Recipients per check | 2 | 10 |
Default recipients | 1 | 5 |
Notification Recipient List
To access the notification recipient list, follow these steps:
- Log into the WEDOS OnLine administration panel.
- In the menu, select Notification recipients.
Manage Notification Recipients
You can take the following actions with notification recipients:
New Notification Recipient
When a new customer account is created, the system creates a new notification recipient with a name and email address that matches the address entered during registration.
You can create your own recipient in the notification recipient list by clicking the New Recipient button and selecting one of the channels for sending notifications. Each recipient is assigned exactly one communication channel; to receive notifications on multiple channels, create a new recipient for each channel.
After selecting the channel, fill in the following information:
- Name. You can name the recipient as you like, we recommend a name that you can easily search for or filter.
- Type of Events. Select whether you want to report only about slow services (can be set for each check; more information in the OnLine – Check Overview guide), only about errors, or both.
- Send from. If the system detects an error once, it may be a measurement error or other false positive. We recommend sending notifications from the 2nd error onward (default), or increasing the tolerance even more.
- Repeat every. As long as the error persists, the system can send an alert every X-th test, where X is the number you set here. The default setting is 0 – with this setting, the system will only send a message at the first occurrence of a persistent error. If the error disappears, the system resets the counter.
- Report recovery. By default, the system sends a notification when the error has resolved (OK status).
- Notify during maintenance. By default, the system does not send notifications when you set a scheduled downtime for the service.
- Default recipient for new checks. The system automatically assigns the recipient to new checks. The number of default recipients is limited by account variant.
- Email or Webhook of the service you want to send notifications to.
Edit Notification Recipient
In the notification recipient list, access the notification recipient detail by clicking the magnifying glass button on the selected recipient.
In the detail, you can edit the following parameters described in detail in the New Notification Recipient section:
- Name
- Type of Events
- Send From
- Repeat Every
- Report Recovery
- Notify during maintenance
- Default recipient for new checks – can only be activated if the recipient limit is not reached
- Email or Webhook – according to the type of recipient
To change the notification channel (Email, Rocket.Chat, …), delete the recipient and create a new one on the corresponding channel.
Pause Notification Recipient
Pausing the notification recipient stops sending error messages, but you can restore this functionality at any time. Unlike a deleted recipient, the system still counts a suspended recipient against the limit of notification recipients set by the account variant.
To pause a recipient, click the pause button at the top of the notification recipient’s detail.
To resume sending notifications to a suspended recipient, click the enable button at the top of the notification recipient’s detail.
Delete Notification Recipient
By deleting a recipient, you irrevocably remove it from the system and free up space for creating another recipient.
Delete a recipient by clicking the delete button at the top of the notification recipient’s detail.
FAQ
Question: Does the service a default recipient?
Answer: Yes, after creating an account, the system creates a recipient (channel: email) with the corresponding data. By default, this recipient is not the default recipient for new checks.
Question: Can I send notifications to Discord?
Answer: The Discord API is not compatible with the JSON format that WEDOS OnLine sends. You can only connect it through another service which converts the Wedos OnLine JSON file into a supported format and sends it to Discord.
