What is the electronic domain ownership certificate
As the name suggests, the electronic domain ownership certificate is a PDF file with our electronic signature. It is a digital document, which can prove the domain ownership (by the time of issue), which may be required by authorities. You can re-generate the document anytime until the surcharge service is active.
How to turn the service on
The electronic domain ownership certificate may be activated in two ways:
- During the domain order.
- During the domain period.
During the domain order
You can turn the certificate on directly in the domain order form, which will allow you to use the certificate for the whole domain period.
During the domain period
If you decide or need to prove the ownership during the existing period, you can turn the service on anytime. We will send you the invoice the next day, the price will be only for the remaining part of the period.
How to do it:
- Log in to the control panel.
- In the main menu choose Domains, and select your domain from the list.
- In the domain detail, in the left menu, go to the WEDOS certificates link.
- If not active yet, our system will lead you to activate the service first.
- When active, go to the WEDOS certificates page again.
Where to generate and download the domain ownership certificate
If the optional service is active, you can generate and get your domain ownership certificate from the control panel.
How to do it:
- Log in to the control panel.
- Choose Domains in the top menu and select your domain from the list.
- On the domain detail page, in the left menu, go to the WEDOS certificates link.
- Choose between downloading or sending the PDF to your e-mail address. Set your e-mail.
Frequently asked questions
Question: What if the domain owner changes, is the certificate still valid?
Answer: The certificate is valid forever, it shows the domain information at the time of the certificate issue. So you can still prove that you were the domain owner in the past. The new owner can generate the new certificate with new domain information.
