When you transfer a domain, its registrar changes, i.e. the provider to whom you pay for the registration, operation and renewal of the domain. It is necessary to enter the complete data of the domain holder and agree with the Rules of domain name services in the .SK top-level domain. To successfully transfer a domain, you must authorise yourself with an authorisation password, which must be obtained from the current domain registrar. The domain must not have a lock set to prevent domain transfers (ClientTransferProhibited). If such a lock is set for a domain, you need to ask the current domain registrar to remove it. After a successful transfer, the domain owner’s data specified in the transfer order form are set for the domain, and the same information is set for the domain’s administrative contact. Furthermore, for security reasons, the authorisation password will be changed and the authorisation password that was used for authorisation when ordering the transfer will no longer be valid. No other changes, such as changing the owner or DNS servers, take place.
Transfer costs are equivalent to the domain’s one annual fee. When a domain is transferred, it is automatically renewed for 1 year at the same time.
Transfers of SK domains are also possible during the renewal grace period in which the domains are found 40 days following the expiration of the domain.
ATTENTION! If the prepaid period for a domain before the transfer is longer than 9 years, it is not possible to transfer it, because the domain is renewed for a period of one year during the transfer. The prepaid period of the SK domain must never exceed 10 years.
If you want to transfer multiple domains, you can transfer them in bulk or use the API to control domains.
The Transfer Procedure
- First, contact the original domain registrar and ask them for your domain authorisation password.
- Fill in the domain transfer order on our website.
- In the second step of the order, you are prompted to enter the authorisation password.
- In the next step, enter the domain holder information.
- After ordering, you will receive an e-mail requesting payment of the transfer fee (or renewal for 1 year)
- After paying the fee, the domain will be transferred within one hour.
WARNING! The transfer will start only after the full payment of fees. If the domain is about to expire, do not unnecessarily postpone the transfer and meet all required conditions as soon as possible.
