Domains – Move Accounts with AUTH-ID

Moving a domain with AUTH-ID is used to retrieve your own domain from another customer’s account. To transfer the domain to another customer, follow the instructions in the Services – New Owner Handover guide.

In this article, you will learn:

Move Domain with Authorization Password

Use the domain owner’s AUTH-ID to move domains from another customer account to your own. You will most often use it if the domain administrator is uncooperative.

First, enter the domain transfer interface by following these steps:

  1. Log into the customer administration panel.
  2. In the navigation bar, select Domains.
  3. In the left menu, click Change Account with AUTH-ID.

  5. Click Move Domain.

If the authorization password is correct, the system will move the domain immediately.

By moving the domain using the AUTH-ID, you will cause the AUTH-ID to change. To perform other actions that require an AUTH-ID, generate it again, for example according to the Domains – AUTH-ID instructions.

Common Issues

Common problems with moving domains using AUTH-ID include:

Cannot Move Domain

Issue: An error message says: Cannot move this domain to your account.

Cause: The domain is registered with another provider.

Solution: Transfer the domain instead.

Cannot Find AUTH-ID

Issue: I can’t find the AUTH-ID in my mailbox.

Solution: Check your SPAM folder. If you can’t find the email with the AUTH-ID there, try sending it from another browser.

If you are unsure of the domain owner’s email (the owner’s email may be different from the billing email), contact customer support and ask for a hint. Enter the domain name and the name of the owner.

Payment Request Missing

Issue: The domain is about to expire, but I still can’t access the payment request.

Cause: The domain move does not apply to invoicing documents created in the system before changing the customer account.

Solution: If the system has already issued an invoice for the domain (usually 30 days before expiration), change the billing data according to the Services – Billing Information. The system cancels the previous payment request and issues a new one with the current data in your account.

Failed to Move DNS

Issue: After moving the domain to my customer account, I still can’t access its DNS.

Cause: Moving a domain usually affects both the domain and its DNS. The attempt to move DNS may fail if they are in a different customer account than the domain.

Solution: To move DNS to the same customer account, request support via a form submitted from the target account containing the domain.

Domain Handover

Issue: I want to transfer the domain from my account, not move it to it.

Solution: Follow the instructions in the Services – New Owner Handover guide.
