In this article, you will learn:
DNS Record History
The DNS history records contain information about exactly when a DNS record was set (row-add), changed (row-update), or deleted (row-delete). You can also find the original data of overwritten or deleted DNS records here and use this information to restore them.
Follow these steps to list the DNS record history:
- Log into the customer administration panel.
- In the navigation bar, select DNS.
- Choose the domain whose DNS you want to examine.
- In the left menu, select History of Changes.
The DNS records listed here have the following format:
name (if it exists)|typ|ttl|data
Restore DNS Records
Unfortunately, there is no automatic record recovery. However, you can find any change in the history (row-update or row-delete), copy the original data and edit or create the correct DNS record according to the DNS – Domain Records instructions.
After opening the DNS record change history, follow these steps:
- Click the magnifying glass icon to open a detail of the updated or deleted record.
- Copy the data part of the record (after the last | character).
- Create or edit the corresponding DNS record.
FAQ
Question: How do I find out who made the changes?
Answer: If you see a lot of changes at once, it could be an automatic DNS setting by our system, for example directing a domain to a service, or setting up a new service with DNS modification checked. If authorized users have access to the DNS, you can ask customer support via the contact form to investigate.
